Till Death Do Us Part?

We’ve heard those words before in countless weddings, coupled with rich phrases making clear that marriages are meant to last until death and that husband and wife are to be committed to each other through the hardships as well as the joys of life. Unfortunately, many couples no longer take their marriage vows seriously and when they face seemingly insurmountable obstacles and problems in their relationships, they want to take the easy way out of their marriages. This explains why 50% of marriages in the United States end in divorce.

Single Mindedness

A group of singles were asked this question, “What do you think are the advantages and disadvantages of being single?” These were some of the answers given:

Advantages:
- It doesn’t matter how long you leave your smelly workout clothes in the backseat of your car.
- You don’t have to wait for someone to get dressed and be late for work or an appointment.
- No one will bug you and tell you how slow you are.

As I pen these words, the sex scandal of Hayden Kho and Katrina Halili has escalated to the heights of its popularity in the Philippines; both have just been subpoenaed to appear before the court. Though this breach of moral etiquette is worth addressing and it should be addressed with, another more deadly and newsworthy issue, the AH1N1 virus, is eclipsed by the sheer scope of the sex scandal.
